Daily Trivia Games
About Daily Trivia Games
A daily trivia game asks everyone the same questions on the same day, so your score is something to compare: with a friend, with yesterday and with everyone else who played. Gamefinity has four, each testing a different kind of knowledge, and each takes a few minutes. They are free in your browser on a phone or a computer, with no download and no sign-up, and they all move to a new day at midnight New York time.
Daily Trivia is the classic quiz: ten general knowledge questions, twenty seconds each, from an easy opener to a hard last pair. Older Than You Think is history with a twist, sixteen pairs a day where you pick which came first. Rank It gives you five lists of five things to put in order, such as the most calories or the farthest north. And Pin Drop is the daily geography quiz: five places to find on an unlabelled world map, scored by how many kilometres off you land.
The daily round of each is one go a day, the same for everyone, which is what makes the result worth sharing. When you finish, each game shows how you did against today's players, and all four keep a leaderboard for the day, with top scores verified by replaying them on our servers.
Daily Trivia: ten questions, easy to hard
Each day's ten questions are multiple choice, four options each, spread over at least seven of eight subjects: history, geography, science, nature, the arts, literature, sport, and food and drink. A right answer scores 10,000 points plus a bonus for the time you have left, so speed separates two players with the same number right. After each answer you see what share of today's players knew it, and the graded sheet at the end marks the questions you got right that fewer than 30% of players did. The shared result is a row of squares, one per question, with a star for those rare ones.
Older Than You Think: which came first?
Sixteen pairs a day, eleven seconds each: the fax machine or the American Civil War, Oxford University or the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan. You pick the older of the two, and the brass timeline shows both dates and why. A streak of right answers raises your multiplier, and each pair shows what share of today's players got it right, which is often the most surprising part. Every date comes from Wikidata, and more than a thousand of its pairs, with both dates and a source, are on the which came first page.
Rank It: put five things in order
Five rounds a day, each a list of five things and thirty seconds to drag them into order. An item in exactly the right slot scores 100 and one slot off still scores 40, and a perfect round is worth 1,000 plus a bonus for the time left. The reveal shows the real values and where most people put each item, so you find out whether the whole crowd fell for the same trap.
Pin Drop: the daily geography quiz
Five places a day, from capital cities to landmarks, each with a clock of twenty to twenty-five seconds. Drop a pin on a map with coastlines and faint borders but no labels, and score up to 1,000 points for landing within 25 km. Once twenty people have played, the reveal shows the crowd's average pin beside yours, and the end card tells you whether you beat the crowd. The places come in five tiers of difficulty and none returns within 110 days.
Past days, answers and more to play
Today's answers are never published while the day is open, so the quizzes stay fair. Once a day closes at midnight ET, the questions and answers of that Daily Trivia appear on the trivia questions page, each with its source. Pin Drop keeps its past days to play again, and so does Daily Trivia for its recent days, for fun and off the leaderboards. Want more than one quiz a day? Daily Trivia, Older Than You Think and Rank It each have a Quick mode you can play as often as you like, and the quiz games page adds a world capitals sprint and a flag painting quiz that are never limited to once a day.
Tips for a better score
In Daily Trivia, the first two questions are the easy ones: answer them fast, because the time bonus is the tiebreaker. In Older Than You Think, trust dates over fame: an object or an idea is often older than the famous version of it. In Rank It, place the two ends first, the biggest and the smallest, and work inwards. And in Pin Drop, use the coastlines and the faint borders to get onto the right country before you zoom in.
