About Gamefinity

Gamefinity is a free games site built around one idea: a good game should start the moment you open it. Every game runs right in your browser on a phone, a tablet or a computer, with nothing to download and no account needed, and most rounds are over in about two minutes. There are more than seventy games to choose from, in categories from puzzle games and word games to arcade games and sports games, and new ones arrive regularly.

Gamefinity is run by Uptime Holdings LLC. The games are designed and developed by the Gamefinity team: we write every game, every guide and every page on this site ourselves, and every game is played by the team on real phones and computers before it goes live.

This page explains what you can play here, how we keep the leaderboards fair, how we make our games and how to reach us.

What you can play

Every game has its own page with a full-size player, a how-to-play guide, the controls for touch, mouse and keyboard, tips from the people who made it and, for almost every game, a leaderboard. You can sort all games by what is popular this week or by what is new, or browse every category.

The Daily Games give every player the same puzzle, quiz or question for one day, from a numbers puzzle and a treasure hunt to trivia and a geography game, so a result means something next to a friend's. They change at midnight Eastern Time (New York). The Daily is the ranked set of three: the same levels for everyone, one attempt a day, and a leaderboard for the day.

Swipe mode turns the whole catalogue into a full-screen feed where the next game is one swipe away, and the gauntlets string several games together into one combined score. For a quick test of yourself there is a typing speed test, an IQ test and a color memory test, and for a break, more than a thousand history pairs in Which Came First and past trivia questions and answers.

Leaderboards you can trust

A leaderboard only means something if every score on it is real. When you play a game with a leaderboard, the game records your inputs, not just your score. Our servers then play the run again with the same game code, input by input, and only a run whose replayed score matches its claimed score is verified and shown on the leaderboards.

For some games, a person also looks over the top runs of each board, and can hide a run that looks automated. Bots, scripts and tampering are against our terms of use; accessibility tools that don't play for you are always fine.

How we make games

We aim for games that are easy to start and hard to master. The first run should be finishable by anyone who has never seen the game before, and the skill shows in how far you get after that. Short rounds, clear rules on one screen and controls that work the same way every time matter more to us than long menus or upgrades to buy.

Games made for phones are built for touch from the start, with controls sized for a thumb, and games that play on a computer get a layout made for a big screen and a keyboard or mouse. When players tell us something is too hard, confusing or broken, we change the game, and the changes reach everyone at once, because there is nothing to install.

Your data

We ask for as little as we can. Playing needs no email address, no password and no real name: the first time you play a game with a leaderboard, a guest account is made for your browser, and signing in with Google or Apple is only for keeping your name and scores on any device. What we keep, why and for how long is all in our privacy policy, and the rules for playing are in our terms of use.

Questions

  • Who runs Gamefinity?

Gamefinity is run by Uptime Holdings LLC. The games, the guides and the rest of the site are designed and developed by the Gamefinity team.

  • Is Gamefinity really free?

Yes. Every game is free to play in your browser, there is nothing to buy, and no leaderboard has a prize. The Tickets you earn by playing are for fun only and can't be bought with money.

  • Do I need to download anything?

No. Every game runs in your browser. If you like, you can add Gamefinity to your home screen so it opens like an app, still without an app store.

  • How do I report a bug or a problem with my score?

Write to us from the contact page: tell us the game, the device and browser you used, and what happened. A score can take a few minutes to appear while it is verified.

  • Can I suggest a game?

Please do. Write to us from the contact page and tell us what you would like to play.
