Spot the Difference Games
About Spot the Difference Games
Spot the difference is a puzzle from newspapers and children's magazines: two pictures that look identical sit side by side, and somewhere in the second one a few small things have changed. A cup has gone missing, a scarf has turned from red to blue, a sign faces the other way. Finding them tests attention more than knowledge, and it is surprisingly hard to stop once you have found the first one.
The skill is in how you look. Scanning both pictures at random wastes time; good players compare one area at a time, the sky, then the middle, then the ground, and check outlines, colours, sizes and counts in turn.
Double Take is spot the difference against the clock. Every run has five bright illustrated scenes, a kitchen, a street, a garden, the sea floor and a desk, and each hides five differences: something missing, a new colour, a new size, a mirrored object and a changed detail. Tap a difference on either picture to circle it on both. A wrong tap costs 100 points and five seconds of the clock, so guessing does not pay, and if you are stuck you can press HINT up to three times a game to circle a difference for 100 points. Every difference is measured to be visible on a phone screen.

Frequently asked questions
How many differences are there in each picture?
Five in every scene of Double Take, one of each kind: something missing, a colour change, a size change, a mirrored object and a changed detail. A full run has five scenes, so 25 differences.
Do wrong taps count against me?
Yes. In Double Take a wrong tap costs 100 points and five seconds of the clock, and pauses your taps for a second, so it pays to look before you tap.
What if I cannot find the last difference?
Press HINT (or H on a keyboard) to circle one of the remaining differences. It costs 100 points and that difference scores nothing. You get three hints a game, and the game never shows one by itself.
Can I play spot the difference on my phone?
Yes. On a phone the two pictures are stacked one above the other and you tap; on a computer they sit side by side and you click.
