About Gravity Games

In most games gravity is simply there, pulling everything down. In gravity games it is the thing you play with. The best-known kind is the gravity flip: instead of jumping, you switch which way is down, so your runner falls up to the ceiling and back down to the floor. Other gravity games hand you a planet's pull and ask you to use it, swinging from one orbit to the next. Either way the controls are tiny, often a single tap, and all the skill is in when you press.

Upside Run is our gravity flip runner. A courier sprints along a space-station corridor on their own, one tap sends them falling up to the ceiling and another drops them back to the floor. Be on the other side when a gap or a strip of spikes passes, flip away from a striped wall before the Warden, a violet robot with a grabbing claw, catches up with you, and hop between floating ledges and short islands in the open sections. You can only flip from a surface, so every flip is a committed arc, and the run gets faster every five seconds. Orbit Hop uses gravity the other way round: your rocket circles a planet, you tap to let go, and if you timed it right the next planet's gravity catches it and swings it into a new orbit, through asteroid belts and past forks that lead to gold planets.

Both games play free in your browser with no download: tap anywhere on a phone, or click or press Space on a computer. Each run is endless, with no clock, and a 90-second version of each is one of the games The Daily can deal. For more one-tap games, see the one-button games and timing games. Upside Run is also one of our endless runner games and platform games, and Orbit Hop one of our space games.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a gravity flip game?

A game where you do not jump: you reverse gravity, so your character falls up to the ceiling or back down to the floor. Upside Run is one, and its whole control is a single tap that flips gravity.

  • Can I flip gravity in mid-air in Upside Run?

No. You can only flip while standing on the floor, the ceiling or a ledge, or in the split second after running off an edge. If you tap in the air just before landing, the flip happens the moment you touch down.

  • How does Orbit Hop use gravity?

Your rocket circles a planet, and when you tap it flies off along its orbit. Time it to reach the next planet and that planet's gravity catches the rocket and swings it into a new orbit, ready for the next hop.

  • Can I play gravity games on my phone?

Yes. Both are one-tap games: tap anywhere on the screen. On a computer, click or press Space or Enter instead.
