About the Whenabouts leaderboard
A daily timeline game: place eight things, from bubble wrap to the Oreo, on timelines of dated events, then learn the year and a fact.
This board ranks every signed-in player’s best verified score in Whenabouts on that day. Each player is listed once, with their best run: a better run replaces it, a worse one leaves it where it is.
How a run scores
- Tap the gap where the card belongs before its 20 seconds run out.
- Place all eight of today's cards: 100 points for the right gap, 30 for one gap off.
How to climb the board
- Read the small line on the card: when a company was founded and when its most famous product came out can be decades apart.
- One gap off still scores 30, so if you are torn between two neighbouring gaps you lose little either way.
- Ties go to the faster player, so place the cards you are sure of quickly and spend your seconds on the hard ones.
Periods, ties and checks
All-time keeps each player’s best since the board opened. This week starts again every Monday at midnight New York time. Today starts again every day at midnight New York time, with one ranked attempt a day.
Equal scores share a place, and the run finished first is listed first.
A run records only your inputs. Our server plays them again with the same game code, and only a score the replay matches is verified. A person also checks the top 10 scores.
The board lists every player, guests under their generated name. Sign in with Google or Apple from a result to keep your scores and pick your own name. Bots, scripts and other automated or assisted play are not allowed (see our terms of use).

Automated or assisted play is not allowed on ranked boards. A person checks the top 10 scores and may hide any that break this rule.
