Carrom Games

About Carrom Games

Carrom is the tabletop game of flicking: a square wooden board with a pocket in each corner, nine white pieces, nine black pieces, a red queen and a heavier striker that you flick into them. It is a favourite in homes and clubs across South Asia, and its appeal is close to pool's without a cue: choose the cut, judge the power and keep your turn going by pocketing one piece after another. Carrom games put that board on a screen, where you aim the striker by pulling back and letting go.

Carrom Club is our carrom board game. The pieces start in the classic flower in the middle of the board; slide your striker along the baseline, press on it and pull back like a slingshot, and a long aim line shows the direction the striker will leave in, while judging the contact and the rebound is up to you. It plays the classic rules against a CPU club player: pocket one of your whites and you shoot again, pocket the striker and it is a foul that brings pieces back to the centre, and the queen only counts once you cover it by pocketing one of your own pieces with the same shot or the next. Clear all nine whites with the queen covered to win the board and face a sharper player on the Club Ladder, from Rookie Ravi upwards. A Quick Board, where every piece is yours and the clock gives you under two minutes, plays in the Daily and in Swipe mode.

Carrom games on Gamefinity are free in your browser on a phone or a computer, with nothing to download: drag the slider bar to move the striker and pull back from it with a finger or the mouse. Carrom Club sits with our board games. For the same pull-back shot on other tables, see the pool games and the flick games, and for more games of angles, the aim games.

Frequently asked questions

  • How do you play carrom?

Each player has nine pieces of one colour. You flick the striker from your baseline to knock your pieces into the corner pockets, and pocketing one gives you another shot. The first player to pocket all their pieces, with the red queen covered, wins the board.

  • What does covering the queen mean?

After you pocket the red queen, you must pocket one of your own pieces with the same shot or the next one. Then the queen is yours (500 points in Carrom Club); miss, and the queen goes back to the centre of the board.

  • What is a foul in carrom?

Pocketing the striker. In Carrom Club your own pieces pocketed by that shot come back to the centre, along with one you had already pocketed, and the turn passes to your opponent.

  • Can I play carrom on my phone?

Yes. Carrom Club is made for phones held upright as well as for computers: drag the slider to move the striker and pull back from it to shoot, with a finger or a mouse.
